A team of archaeologists finds an Egyptian sarcophagus in a Mayan temple. When the men open it, the Goa'uld Queen Hathor escapes and kills her. The sarcophagus is brought to the Stargate Center. Hathor also goes to the SGC, where she is already intercepted at the gate. In the isolation cell, however, she succeeds in making Daniel Jackson docile with her special skills. He then tries to get the general and the rest of SG-1 to understand that Hathor is a friendly Goa'uld. Eventually she casts a spell over the general and all the other men. Samantha Carter, on the other hand, has great doubts about Hathor's credibility. As a woman, she cannot be influenced by Hathor's powers.

It turns out that Hathor acts like a "queen bee" to the Goa'uld. It can create Goa'uld larvae using a new host's DNA code. Daniel is chosen by Hathor as a lover (i.e., DNA source). Hathor takes control of the Stargate Center and wants to use it as a Goa'uld nest. She is raising Goa'uld larvae for all men at the SGC and plans to make Colonel O'Neill her first human incubator. To do this, she cuts an opening in his stomach and places him in the larval bath. Carter and Teal'c can free him before a larva has invaded him, but without a symbiote he will soon die. Teal'c gets the idea to put the Colonel in the sarcophagus, where he quickly recovers from his damage. Hathor fires at the sarcophagus with her Goa'uld technique, which explodes. O'Neill and Carter launch a stun attack. When Hathor notices this, Carter draws her pistol and shoots Hathor. Hathor can still somehow escape through the Stargate.

For their role in saving the SGC, Captain Carter and Dr. Fraiser proposed by General Hammond for an Order of Merit.

Overall, the series is slowly showing more depth and the episodes no longer all follow the same pattern: discovering a planet, exploring it, uncovering grievances or being in danger, eliminating grievances or escaping danger, return. SG-1 provides the Tok'ra with their Goa'uld mothership, recently captured by Kronos, for the evacuation of their home planet, which is soon to be attacked by a large Apophis fleet. The Tok'ra had given Apophis false information through an exposed spy in order to carry out a devastating counter-attack: When the enemy fleet arrives, the sun of the planet is to be blown up and Apophis' fleet to be destroyed. But the spy escapes and is pursued by O'Neill and Teal'c. A fight ensues and Teal'c is captured and taken to Apophis' ship. O'Neill can be transported from SG-1 to their spaceship just in time for the sun to explode. SG-1 as well as Apophis can save themselves from the supernova into hyperspace, but they are thrown far beyond the boundaries of the galaxy.

Season 5 - In the Hand of the Enemy (2001–2002, # 89–110)

In the fifth season the Jaffa rebellion is pursued, and new opponents are introduced with Osiris and Anubis . In the penultimate episode, Daniel Jackson (played by Michael Shanks) dies after a fatal dose of radiation. On his deathbed, O'Neill learns that Jackson does not actually die, but rather ascends to a higher level of existence with the help of the ancient grandma Desala .

This whole storyline stems from the fact that Michael Shanks declares his exit as the season progresses. Behind the scenes there were a lot of rumors that tension existed within the cast and that this was the reason for his decision. The fifth season should now definitely be the final season of Stargate SG-1. The series continued after the switch from Showtime to the SciFi channel .

Daniel Jackson suspects that there is a device on earth whose technology is closely related to the creation of the so-called super soldier. During an expedition in Honduras, he and Dr. Lee finds a promising find, but is captured by bandits.

They justify this with alleged misconduct by Hammond and SG-1. Daniel Jackson finds in an old text the address of a planet on which there is a copy of the ancient database. SG-1 finds them, but Anubis' attacking troops force O'Neill to reload the knowledge (again) into his brain (see 2x15). Then the database is blown up. O'Neill's body will now (again) approach that of the ancients to cope with all the knowledge. Meanwhile, by order of the new president, General Hammond is removed from the SGC and Dr. Elisabeth Weir , a civilian, handed over. SG-1 learns that Anubis will attack Earth within three days. O'Neill's transformation begins. His subconscious reveals the address of a planet on which the lost city of the ancients (including powerful weapons) is suspected. SG-1 only finds a small outpost there. They bring the local energy source (called ZPM ) back to earth, where Anubis' fleet began to deliberately destroy the information infrastructure of the earth and some military units. Protected by Prometheus and F-302s, SG-1 exposes another ancient outpost beneath the ice of the Antarctic . While a fierce aerial battle rages on the surface, O'Neill activates a weapons platform with the help of the energy source he has brought with him, which uses ancient drones to destroy Anubis 'fleet, whereby Anubis' body is destroyed, but not his spirit. Then the exhausted O'Neill goes to a stasis chamber.

The replicators, led by the human form replicator Carter (8x02), overrun the Milky Way and inflict heavy defeats on Ba'al's troops. During an attack by Free Jaffa on the System Lords, Daniel is kidnapped by the human form replicator Carter. She wants to access knowledge in Daniel's subconscious, in which a possibility to destroy her could be stored. She discovers that on the planet Dakara, the most sacred place of Jaffa, there is an ancient weapon that can wipe out all replicators as well as all biological life in the galaxy. Meanwhile, the free Jaffa to Teal'c and Bra'tak conquer Dakara in order to finally refute the omnipotence of the Goa'uld and thus motivate even more Jaffa to overflow. Anubis had expected it and now wants to destroy all free Jaffa concentrated on Dakara. Ba'al suspects that Anubis also wants to use the ancient weapon there to destroy all life in the galaxy and recreate it according to his imagination, and asks the SGC for help to destroy the weapon before the arrival of his troops so that they do not falls into Anubis' hands. Carter and Thor are working on a remake of the anti-replicator weapon that previously lost its effectiveness (8x11). At the last minute he brings Carter back to Earth and tries to steer his ship as far away from Earth as possible.

After Daniel briefly gained the upper hand in the mental duel with Replicator Carter, he is killed by the latter. Finally, the weapon is correctly configured and fired - all replicators are destroyed. In the chaos of the battle, the free Jaffa manage to take over Ba'al's ships. However, Ba'al himself can escape.

Selmak, the Tok'ra in Jacob Carter, dies and also pulls Jacob into his death. The team travels back in time with the modified puddle jumper (8x13) and can steal the ZPM unnoticed beforehand. However, Ra's troops discover the jumper and are stuck. Back in the present a lot has changed: There is no SGC and O'Neill, Carter and Daniel have boring jobs outside of the Air Force. However, the Air Force discovered a videotape that SG-1 had recorded 5000 years earlier. It contains information about SG-1 and the Stargate project. Carter and Daniel are then recruited for the new project, O'Neill refuses. The Stargate from Egypt could not be found. In the meantime, however, the jumper has been found in Egypt and the second Stargate in Antarctica. A mission is about to start, but Hammond refuses to let Carter and Daniel go.

O'Neill wants to participate and takes Carter and Daniel with him. The first mission is to go to Chulak to get Teal'c to overflow. The team is captured by him, but can convince him. Daniel is infected and killed by a Goa'uld; However, Carter, O'Neill and Teal'c manage to escape in the jumper. Because they are persecuted, they travel to the year 3000 BC and meet the original Daniel there. Apparently, the original SG-1 started a rebellion that failed and killed the original Carter, O'Neill, and Teal'c. Since both Ra and the Stargate from Egypt were no longer on earth in the new present, they suspect that Daniel's second rebellion, which has not yet taken place, was successful, but that Ra took the Stargate with him. So you modify Daniel's plan for the second rebellion so that the Stargate remains on Earth. When Carter and O'Neill are temporarily surrounded in the Jumper, they kiss (which the original Carter and O'Neill never did). Back in the present, the ZPM is found together with the video, but the timeline is otherwise not changed this time. SG-1 is happy about her own success, but cannot remember any of her actions.

Since all the old members are busy with other projects, he is given the task of building a new team. After his efforts to reunite the old team fail, chance comes to his aid. Vala (see 8x12) "chains" herself with Daniel Jackson with two bracelets, so that he can help her in the search for a treasure that, according to her information, can be found on earth. Since both would die if they got too far apart, Daniel is now forced to stay close to Vala and cannot start his planned journey with the Daedalus to Atlantis. The two learn from a local underground organization that they are in a galaxy controlled by beings called "Ori". The Ori claim to have created human beings and demand unconditional worship. Daniel suspects that they might be a split from the anti-race - at that time they called themselves "Alterans" - who - unlike the previously known ascended beings - allow themselves to be interfered with and worshiped in the material world. The new doctor of the SGC, Dr. Lam (General Landry's daughter) is concerned about Daniel and Vala's health. Vala is recognized as a "heretic" and burned. An Ori prior appears, brings Vala back to life and asks Daniel and Vala to follow him.
