The highest court in Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen was initially the state government. In April 1821 the Sigmaringen court was created for this purpose , but this was still linked to the state government in terms of personnel until 1849. The separation of the jurisdiction of the administration was therefore not given.

Above it was the Grand Ducal Hessian Higher Appeal Court in Darmstadt , which had been assigned this function by a state treaty of March 20, 1818. With the State Treaty of June 26, 1824, the Stuttgart Higher Tribunal took over the role of the Higher Appeal Court instead .

Entrance courts were primarily the higher offices and cities:

With the dissolution of the principality and the annexation to Prussia as the Hohenzollern Land , the organization of the courts was also adjusted. On January 1, 1852, a royal Prussian district court , the district court of Hechingen, was established. At the same time, district court commissions were set up in Gammertingen, Sigmaringen and Wald. On September 1, 1854, district court commissions were also set up in Glatt and Haigerloch.

Now the instance went to the Arnsburg Court of Appeal and the Berlin Upper Tribunal .
