Century, especially 1535 All of the Scharfenstein castle and manor, castle complex visible from afar, today the Erzgebirge Christmas and Toy Museum, manor formerly stately complex, landscape-defining, local and regional historical significance, architectural value, with the following individual monuments:

Castle: picturesquely situated on a foothill, irregular ring-shaped complex. The earliest archaeological findings from the 13th / 14th centuries. Century, from this time the keep dates from.

Initially owned by von Waldenburg, after changing ownership in 1492 sold to Heinrich von Einsiedel. Numerous structural changes between the 14th and 16th centuries, the extensive reconstruction in Renaissance forms under Heinrich Abraham von Einsiedel in 1535, using the medieval cellars as a foundation. A devastating fire in 1921 almost completely destroyed the old roof structure and the interior fittings, until 1922 reconstruction under the direction of Bodo Ebhardt. Restoration 1993–95.

  • In the center of the complex is the keep, instead of the third floor, a battlement was placed in the 19th century.
  • The directly adjoining hall has been in ruins since the late Middle Ages.
  • The courtyard is surrounded by the gatehouse, west wing, church wing, society wing and large living wing, on the south side of which the decorative gable with looped ribs made of plastered brick, visible from afar, was added after 1533, the horizontal and vertical struts added during the restoration in 1922. The window shapes, some of which are late Gothic arched windows, as well as rectangular windows in Renaissance shapes, the seat niche portal on the residential wing from 1922.
  • The interior is largely modern, with ribbed vaults with tendril ornamentation on the ground floor of the residential wing, 16th century.
  • Above the neck ditch in front of the bridge, at the southern end of which there is a splendid late renaissance portal with banded columns and pyramid tops, in the top the alliance coat of arms of the von Einsiedel and von Ponickau, around 1630, removed in 1977, reconstructed in 1991.
  • Around the castle another circular wall system with three round towers, two of which have only survived as ruins, probably 14th century.

Manor: only two wings of the former four-wing complex have been preserved:
