Triangulation column
More pictures
Triangulation column (Map) marked 1864 (triangulation stone) Second order station (No. 132), important testimony to geodesy of the 19th century, of significance in terms of surveying history.

Square surveying stone made of Greifenstein granite, erected on the Scheibenberg, inscription: "Station / Scheibenberg / der / Kön: Sächs: / Trinagulirung / 1864", cover and fixings in the pier head available, foundation depth 1.30 m, height 1.10 m, upper Thickness 50 cm
Like Pöhlberg and Bärenstein, the Scheibenberg is a basalt cone that was created as the erosion residue of a lava flow from the Tertiary. The measurement point was set up on the plateau of the mountain and was the first 2nd class station on the table mountains in the vicinity of the degree measurement point 15- Fichtelberg.
The municipality of Scheibenberg issued an oral building permit for this. The station was located in the immediate vicinity of the first observation tower, which was built in 1891 and named the Carola Tower in honor of the Saxon queen. The tower was built from basalt rubble and was 26 m high, on the platform of which there was another surveying column. The measurements were made from this. It had to be blown up in 1971 because it was in disrepair. The new construction of the tower with pavilion from 1993/94 also covers the original ground location of the station, the current one was redefined in 1998 about 65 m south-southeast. The octagonal shape of the precast concrete tower is modeled on the basalt columns of the organ pipes, which can be seen on the mountain as a geological monument. The neighboring town and mountain inn offers restaurants and guest rooms. It was completely renovated as a monument after the fall of the Wall.

Residential building in closed development Market 4
(map)
2nd half of the 18th century As an originally preserved baroque building, it is of importance in terms of architecture and town planning, at this point it defines the townscape, in the urban fabric it is also of importance in terms of town planning.

Middle-class residential house from the middle of the 18th century, with a probably older core, eaves in closed development, two-storey, mansard roof with later gable dormers, architectural significance as structural evidence of the reconstruction after the city fire in 1740, urban significance due to the exposed location on the Scheibenberger Markt, its Development mainly dates from the second half of the 18th century.
The facade facing the market square shows a rhythmic arrangement of the window openings in the ratio 3/2/2, the lack of regularity creates tension and liveliness. Almost in the middle is the large segmented arch portal with a slightly different shape, with a later three-winged, coffered frame panel door, a profiled transom and multiple split skylight (mid-19th century). The exterior plaster is not original.
The original spatial structures have been preserved inside. Diffusing partition walls - especially in the hallway and in rooms on the upper floor - were removed again, as were suspended ceiling panels. In addition to the Adler Pharmacy (Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße 22) and the Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße 41 building, the building has the most important interior fittings among the Scheibenberg town houses. These include natural stone walls, baroque doors, cross vaults and, above all, artistically high-quality stucco ceilings - some with figurative representations (Risen Christ). They testify to the high standard of living culture and the need for representation of the bourgeois building owner. A special feature are the so-called man-to-man ceilings, solid wood ceilings without gaps and singular in the place.
A dendrochronological examination revealed that the wood was felled in 1710. Traces of fire indicate damage that could be attributed to the city fire mentioned above. Man-to-man ceilings have a high load-bearing capacity and they are preferably installed in ceilings with complex stucco work. Because of its elaborate interior and the rare ceiling construction, the house has a special architectural history.

(map)
2nd half of the 18th century As a baroque building that has largely been preserved in its original form, it is of significance in terms of architecture and town planning, and also of importance in terms of town planning in the urban fabric.

Semi-open residential building, two-storey solid plastered building, the squat structure with thick walls and the rather steep slate-covered hipped roof reveal the baroque structure, which was probably created after a fire in the 18th century. Cross vaults and belt arches inside as well as two quarry stone barrels and inclined window cavities could even point to an even older core, but the slightly modified facade does not suggest this.

In addition to the importance of the building in terms of architectural history, it is also relevant to urban development, as it is a structural component of the historical core of the mountain town of Scheibenberg, which has the grid layout typical of this type of foundation.
