Triangulation stone (Map) marked 1869 (triangulation column) Station of the Royal Saxon Triangulation, 2nd order network, scientifically and technologically significant.

Monument text:
The monolithic stone has been restored almost perfectly. Thanks to the fact that the original cover stone has been preserved, the simple pillar with its elaborate base gives an authentic impression of the original appearance of many stations. The installation took place in October 1869 on a 37 m² plot of land acquired from landowner CH Uhlmann in Waldkirchen. The stone has been restored several times, most recently after 2000.
In the period from 1862 to 1890, a land survey was carried out in the Kingdom of Saxony, in which two triangular networks were formed. On the one hand, there is the network for grade measurement in the Kingdom of Saxony (network I. class / order) with 36 points and the royal Saxon triangulation (network II. Class / order) with 122 points. This national survey was led by Christian August Nagel , according to which the triangulation columns are also referred to as "Nagelsche columns". This surveying system was one of the most modern layer networks in Germany. The surveying columns set for this purpose remained almost entirely in their original locations. They are an impressive testimony to the history of land surveying in Germany and in Saxony. The system of surveying columns of both orders is in its entirety a cultural monument of supraregional importance. (LfD / 2014)

Lack of laundry Zschopenthal 9 (near)
(map)
around 1900 Box shortage with electric motor from Ernst Herrschuh's housekeeping machine factory in Chemnitz / Siegmar, currently dismantled and stored, of importance in terms of housekeeping and technical history.

Monument text:
The laundry mangle at hand is a crate mangle manufactured around 1900 by the Ernst Herrschuh housekeeping machine factory in Chemnitz / Siegmar. Your stone box is set in motion by an electric motor via a transmission belt, toothed wheel drive and rack and its weight is used to iron the laundry on the wooden rollers underneath, i.e. smooth it.
The box mangle was on the first floor until 1984, then on the ground floor of the Zschopenthal 6 house property. It was still in operation until 2008. The building was demolished in March 2012, the laundry shortage was then dismantled and stored in the neighboring blue paint factory.
Compared to other Herrschuh's flat ironers from the same ironing plant, this one is a comparatively old model. It was originally designed for manual operation using a hand crank and did not receive an electric motor and transmission until 1912. The heavy ironer box is also guided back and forth in a robust wooden construction with corner pillars. Only in younger models was this held in position by the movement mechanics and central columns.
Curved metal rails on the sides of the box support the mechanically released process of reversing the direction of the stone box. The hinged and patent-protected protective grids prevent reaching into the danger zone during the ironing process.
Another, more recent crate ironer from Ernst Herrschuh is still in operation in a back building at Hohensteinstrasse 82, Coswig.

Monument value:
The lack of crate is in this form a testimony of housekeeping and commercial laundry in the 19th and 20th centuries and documents the technological transfer of the laundry roll with ironing board and wooden roll to a mechanical auxiliary device. As a model retrofitted with an electric motor, it demonstrates the technological development of the initially hand-operated crate ironer to an easier-to-use auxiliary device in domestic laundry. At the same time, it also documents the much easier but laborious work process of washing the laundry and is thus also a testimony to the working conditions of housewives in the 19th and 20th centuries. The lack of boxes is therefore of importance in terms of domestic and technical history.

To date, comparatively few laundry ironers have survived in Saxony, although originally many localities, partly also larger districts or settlements, had a publicly usable ironing room or ironing house. A single lack of laundry can now be recognized as a rarity. However, maintaining a certain variety of models is desirable, since only from this can a special informative value for technological development and the typical decentralized supply structure in the domestic economy of the time be derived. Finally, such a lack of laundry - especially one that is still operational - also has a great experience and memory value, so that its preservation is of public interest. (LfD / 2012)
