Triangulation column
Triangulation column (Map) 1864 (triangulation column) Second order station, significant testimony to geodesy of the 19th century, of significance in terms of surveying history.

Monument text:
In the period from 1862 to 1890, a state survey was carried out in the Kingdom of Saxony, in which two triangular networks were formed. The resulting layer network was considered one of the most modern in Germany at the time. On the one hand, there is the network for the degree measurement in the Kingdom of Saxony (network I. class / order) with 36 points and the Royal Saxon triangulation (network II. Class / order) with 122 points. The Grossenhainer baseline was determined as the benchmark. This national survey was led by Christian August Nagel, which is why the triangulation columns are also known as "Nagelsche columns". The surveying columns set for this purpose remained almost entirely in their original locations. They are an impressive testimony to the history of land surveying in Germany and in Saxony. The system of surveying pillars of both orders is in its entirety a cultural monument of supraregional significance in terms of surveying history.
The triangulation column number 133 at the highest point of the Schatzenstein rock belongs to the second network of the Royal Saxon triangulation. At the time of installation, the land belonged to the Elterlein State Forest District and was already owned by the Royal Saxon State Fiscus. As a special feature, the column has lettering on two opposite sides. Apparently, no specific specifications were made to the stonemason for the brief. The lettering and the stone shape are similar to point 136-Hirschenstein, which was created at the same time. Below the station there is a memorial plaque on the rock for the dialect poet of the nationally known Erzgebirge anthem "Dr Vugelbeerbaam" Max Schreyer (1845–1922). As part of the Royal Saxon Triangulation Class II, the column is of great importance in the history of surveying.

Monument text:
Ackerbürgerhaus in closed development, two-storey solid plastered building (80 cm thick walls on the ground floor) with eight axes (upper storey), with a central, arched entrance (curbstones) restored before 2003 in a two-axis, flat central projection, behind it a hall-like corridor as a passage with groined vaults and Floor slabs, another room with groin vault, the cellar vault fills the entire floor plan of the house.

The building was erected before 1750, perhaps as early as the 17th century, and due to its age and construction details it has a special significance in terms of building history and social history. The building decisively shapes the image of the market square, which is particularly true for the contribution to the roof landscape, hence also urban planning significance.

Post mileage

Post mileage Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße 1 (opposite)
(map)
marked 1729 Distance column, important in terms of traffic history.

Monument text
Kursächsische distance column marked 1729 with inscriptions on distance information and coat of arms.
The column stands above the market, at the original junction of the road to Grünhain, the post route Schneeberg-Grünhain-Annaberg. It consists of Greifenstein granite with a sandstone coat of arms.
It was probably rebuilt as early as the 18th or 19th century, which is deduced from the different types of granite.
A restoration took place in the early 1930s. However, because of the severe weathering, it was no longer possible to identify and update all distance information. Another restoration took place in 1964.

In 1722, the Electorate of Saxony began to erect the Saxon post-mile pillars. Elector Friedrich August I wanted to build a modern traffic and transport control system in the electorate in order to promote trade and economy. He entrusted Magister Adam Friedrich Zürner (1679–1742) with the implementation. The system of post mile pillars comprised distance pillars, quarter milestones, half and full mile pillars. The distance columns should be set up in the cities in front of the city gates, later only on the marketplaces. Quarter milestones, half and full mile pillars were set up along the Poststrasse. They received a consecutive numbering (row number), starting from the beginning of the measurement. The all-mile columns were set up outside the cities on the post roads at a distance of 1 mile (= 9.062 km). The distance pillars were marked with the monogram "AR" for "Augustus Rex", the Electoral Saxon and Polish-Lithuanian double coat of arms and the Polish royal crown. The full mile, half mile columns and quarter milestones were all similarly labeled, none of them had a coat of arms, but the monogram "AR". The distances were given in hours (1 hour = ½ post mile = 4.531 km).
This mile system was the first European traffic management system. The pillar considered here is of great importance in the history of traffic as part of the nationally significant postal system.
