Woodhouse Crimmitschauer Strasse 43
(map)
after 1925 Probably built as an accommodation barrack in the Zwickau Forest Park, later converted into the cemetery gardener's house next to the main cemetery, typical wooden house in prefabricated construction, probably block construction from the early 20th century, significant in terms of architectural history.

Single-storey building built on a stone base in block construction with an originally rectangular floor plan. Presumably it is a mass-produced accommodation barrack of a timber house company. The construction is similar to that of the Hellerauer workshops in Dresden. An exact assignment to a company is not possible due to the lack of construction files. The windows and the front door arranged in the middle with diagonal boards are to be assigned to the construction time. The interior is divided into a small central corridor with a kitchen behind it and rooms on both sides. The wooden block walls were clad inside with vertical wooden cladding or with thick cardboard (similar to the barracks of the Christoph & Unmack company ). At the moment it cannot be said whether there is thermal insulation between the block walls and the cladding. The wood-boarded room was also provided with a wood-paneled ceiling with flat beams, which indicates that this room was intended as living space. An outside toilet was later added to the building in an adapted design. A possibly original open veranda was subsequently closed. The veranda door is a second-hand door from around 1910, which was given a similar appearance to the historic front door through diagonal boards. The building is rounded off by a relatively flat sloping hipped roof with slips.

Villa with villa garden and enclosure Kurt-Eisner-Strasse 79

1911 Architecturally sophisticated Art Nouveau villa, home of the Zwickau architect Gustav Hacault, of architectural, artistic and urban historical importance.

The cultural monument is a villa designed in 1911 by the Zwickau architect Gustav Hacault and built under his direction. The construction work was in the hands of the master builder Carl Fischer from Zwickau. The structure is a typical example of the buildings that were built between the turn of the century and the First World War. It shows the formal language of that time, which reflects the architects' search for a national style that was appropriate to the social conditions of the time. Despite the fact that the building is dominated by the canon of forms typical of the time in terms of structure and sculptural facade decoration, certain details anticipate the expressionist construction - which is evidenced by the later work of the architect Hacault. The building is located in the Nordvorstadt, a representative district that was created after the turn of the century. It mainly consists of rental houses in closed and also loosened roadside buildings and a few villas. The structure of the building is multi-part. Based on the prevailing fashion at the time that the floor plan should be designed “freely”, the architect arranged the rooms in a sensible way according to their function. This arrangement can be seen from the outside and has the consequence that both the roof and the facade structure are very complex. The functions were organized according to a certain hierarchy. The master's rooms such as the salon, living room, dining room, studio and office were on the south side behind the facade. The north-eastern area received the functional rooms such as the kitchen, bathroom, toilet and pantry, the western area the children's rooms and bedrooms. The attic, apart from the office, studio and guest rooms on the south side, was reserved for the servants' living quarters. The intended use as a single-family villa was soon abandoned. The main entrance, consisting of a three-part portal with decorative fittings, a canopy, integrated lantern and luster glazed tiles, is located on the east side and leads directly to the elliptical staircase, which is adorned with lead-glass windows designed to match the façade. Compared to traditional villas, in which the entrance situation and the stairwell have a strong design influence on the façade, both are in a less exposed position. The focus of the design is on the south facade. At this point the mansard roof covered with beaver tail and below with slate, which contains slate-clad dormers and an eaves board designed as a classic cornice, gives way to a monumentally designed gable for decorative purposes. The insides of the roof overhang on this gable are coffered and painted. With its strong plastic structure, the façade is largely determined by the slightly elliptical or semicircular or apsidic protruding bay windows , the tops of which are designed as balconies and which are arranged in four different levels of depth. The balconies are bordered by ornamental, riveted metal grids, the windows of the side elevations on the first floor are provided with brackets for flower boxes. The vertical of the bay windows is emphasized by the flat pillars in front of them and by a corresponding plaster structure. In between are the windows, which are divided into multiple sections in the upper area, and attached ornamental fields made of stucco with floral elements and depictions of animals. The balcony doors and windows have, equivalent to the facade design, a decorative, curved sprout, the ones on the 2nd floor also have curved struts. The pavilion-like terrace in the central axis of the ground floor is particularly richly decorated. The roof, designed as a balcony, is supported above by concrete pillars with plaster stucco cover, attached ornamental fields and volute capitals. In front of it there is a water basin on the ground level of the garden. A relief can be seen at this point on the drawing submitted to the building police. Noteworthy is the strongly curved and rolled plaster structure in the upper part of the gable field, into which polished glass drops are inserted. In the top there is a coat of arms (painter or artist). The base is made of a reddish terrazzo. Bands of white glazed tiles run under the windows of the side elevations. The facade design on the other three sides is very simple and is expressed in slightly recessed large plaster mirrors. The west side is characterized by superimposed verandas, which contain multiple windows and wooden columns with volute capitals. Inside, the doors with a decorative, curved design, the parquet and the banister made of oak have been preserved. In the back of the garden there is a very simply designed garage exactly in the axis of the driveway. There is a separate entrance for pedestrians. The fence consists of a brick base and pillars with a cover into which rounded wooden fence panels are inserted. Some fence posts contain an opening, which in turn is closed with a tiny, usually round fence panel. Devices such as bell, mailbox, etc. are integrated into the fence posts at the entrance.

Demanding three-storey plastered building on an approximately rectangular floor plan with a semicircular protruding balcony or arbor in front of the facade, elaborate Art Nouveau decorations, especially on the gable, with ornamental decorations and a coat of arms, painted sub-roof surfaces as well as differently designed oriels protruding semicircular with pilasters, windows with crossbars, red roof lights Artificial stone, glazed brick elements, the roof design and mansard design different, partly with slate or beaver tails, interesting combination of different building materials and colors, original house entrance on the side with curved copper roof, inside original painting of the stairwell and entrance doors. Enclosure: brick fence pillars and wooden fence as well as corresponding doors.

1927 Of architectural value.

The cultural monument is a three-storey block of houses with 12 × 2 window axes with three entrances. It was designed in 1926 by the Chemnitz architects Gerber and Kerner , architects BDA. The client and builder was the non-profit building and settlement stock corporation Heimat , based in Berlin-Zehlendorf-Mitte. In 1927 the building project of the union federation of employees (GDA) came to execution. The construction company was Hermann Schmidt from Zwickau. The facades were originally characterized by maggot plaster typical of the time it was built. Unfortunately, this was not faithfully restored during the renovation of the 1990s. Nevertheless, essential design elements such as the eaves cornice, the two circumferential bands between the floors, the conical window walls, the house portals and the base in smooth plaster or concrete stone have been preserved. The shape and division of the windows are a special design element for the otherwise quite plain facades. Unfortunately the fine sprouting is no longer there. The typical 1920s design of the front doors is also important for the overall appearance of the building, as is the shape and roofing of the dormers. The simple but also relatively modern appearance is largely influenced by the influences of the German Werkbund and the German Bauhaus Dessau in the style of the 1920s. (Text: Stadtverw. Zwickau)
