List of cities in Estonia
By far the largest agglomeration in Estonia is Tallinn with a population of 521,313 (as of January 1, 2006). This means that around 40 percent of the country's population is concentrated in the capital region.
The following table shows the cities and municipalities over 3,000 inhabitants, the results of the census of January 17, 1979, January 12, 1989 and March 31, 2000, an estimate by the Estonian Statistics Office for January 1, 2017 as well as the district (Estonian pl. maakonnad , sing. maakond ) to which the city or municipality belongs. The population figures relate to the respective urban settlement in the narrower sense - the geographical urban area - not to the city or municipality in the political sense.
