Archaeological investigations prior to the implementation of the road project " B1 - bypass new building" provided evidence of settlement of the area in the middle and younger Latène period . There were traces of wooden frame structures, pit houses , ovens and wells, as well as a large number of ceramic fragments, millstones and other objects of daily use at that time. The finds of over one hundred Celtic coins and a bronze amulet pendant with rams' heads are particularly noteworthy . Scattered finds of coins from the imperial era prove that the site was walked on until late antiquity .

The first evidence of a single-nave Romanesque church is from the end of the 12th century. Some elements of this building are still preserved. The church was enlarged around 1300 and in the middle of the 15th century. During the second renovation, the tower, which was initially free-standing, was also built. After a fire in the village of Hörsching in 1771, the vault of the presbytery had to be removed and renewed. The current floor plan and structure correspond to that of the renovation in 1867: a four-aisled nave, of which the central part is elevated and has two aisles. The two side aisles were probably added in 1464. The choir has a stitch cap barrel vault. The tower is now integrated into the structure and has an onion helmet from 1807. The high altar is late baroque, the pulpit neo-Gothic. Two of five Roman relief stones found during the renovation in 1867 are walled in on the southwest side and on the tower. During renovation work (1979 to 1981), Gothic frescoes and Renaissance paintings were exposed. The figures of St. John of Nepomuk and Maria Immaculata from the first third of the 18th century.
