In 1901 the Protestant community AB Traun was able to acquire a sufficiently large plot of land to build a prayer house (church). The foundation stone was not laid until March 25, 1913. The Traun-based construction company Roithner pulled the building up in just five months on the basis of plans by the architect August Scheinert from Plauen. The inauguration took place on September 8, 1913. The tower of the church was built in 1983/84 and houses the three bells of the community.

In order to create additional space for the school in the old vicarage at Bahnhofstrasse 19, Pastor Witzelsteiner privately acquired the so-called “Scherzergütl” in 1825 and set up the pastoral office in it. When the pastor retired in 1851, he sold the entire property to the “Parish and School Competition Traun”.

The neo-Gothic parish church of St. Dionysius has an eventful architectural history. The church was planned by the Linz cathedral master builder Otto Schirmer . Pastor Franz X. Gruber founded a church building association in March 1880. He started work in 1881 without a building permit. Due to the lack of building negotiations and the planned size of the church, the religious fund refused to finance the construction and ordered the construction to be stopped. Since the foundations of the church had already been completed and the floor plan could no longer be changed, the architect Raimund Jeblinger began with the re-planning. Due to this cost reduction and with the help of donations, a church building lottery and the donation of 12,000 guilders "on the path of grace" from the religious fund, the building was inaugurated in 1890 and. The interior work then took another 10 years.

The main building of Traun Castle with its four corner turrets was built around the second half of the 16th century on the site of the moated castle mentioned around 1120. The front side facing the inner courtyard has a remarkably rich interior, the other sides are kept rather simple. In front of the castle are the buildings of the former brewery, the wing with the castle chapel and the gate to the castle courtyard. The castle chapel was built in 1363 and was the parish church of Traun from 1788 to 1890.

As an indirect consequence of the re-establishment of the Traun parish, St. Dionysen was closed in 1787. Parts of the furnishings and equipment were used in the castle chapel, which was elevated to the parish church, while the rest were given to the poor as firewood. In 1790 the tower was demolished and the building sold. In the end only the foundation walls and some walls remained. These remains were used in the construction of the house that is now on the property.
