List of the Slovenian ambassadors in Austria

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Slovenian Ambassador to Austria is the Ambassador , the senior diplomatic representative of the Republic of Slovenia ( Slovene Republika Slovenija ) who is accredited in the Republic of Austria .

history

The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia Vienna ( Slovenian Veleposlaništva Republike Slovenije [ na ] Dunaju ) for Austria was established in 1992, soon after the independence of Slovenia (the break-up of Yugoslavia ). Austria recognized Slovenia as an independent state on January 15, 1992, and diplomatic relations were established on the same day.

The relationship between Austria and Slovenia is traditionally close and based on partnership, due to the long common history as well as the relatively similar situation within the EU, and oriented towards multinational regionalism. The main common concerns are cultural, economic and military cooperation and the strengthening and consolidation of the Alps-Adriatic-Pannonia area (AAP) within European and international cooperation.

However, due to the situation of the Carinthian Slovenes and, in particular, the long unresolved dispute about the town signs in bilateral matters, the ambassador repeatedly comes out in public with a critical eye.
