The ambassador heads the Turkish Embassy in Wellington .

The ambassador in Wellington is also regularly with the governments in Suva ( Fiji , November 17, 1975), Nukuʻalofa ( Tonga , January 26, 1976), Apia , ( Samoa , April 12, 1979), Funafuti ( Tuvalu , July 19, 1979 ) and Avarua ( Cook Islands October 28, 2008).

history

There were trade relations between the territory of New Zealand and the Ottoman Empire . Since 1937 a consular agreement has regulated the exequatur of consuls. In 1941 there was an honorary consul in Auckland . From 1978 the ambassador to Canberra was regularly accredited to Wellington. In December 1991 Teoman Sürenkök was appointed first ambassador to Wellington, where he was accredited to Catherine Tizard , Governor General of New Zealand on February 10, 1992 .
