The Ottoman Empire first sent a diplomatic representative to France in 1483 . There has been a permanent embassy since 1797.

September 26, 1980 attacked the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia Selcuk Bakkalbaşı, the embassy press attaché, and injured him. On January 13, 1981, the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia, Ahmet Erbeyli, the embassy's economic and financial secretary , blew up what survived in his vehicle.
