The Ottoman Empire first sent a diplomatic representative to France in 1483 . There has been a permanent embassy since 1797.

1932 Feridun Cemal Erkin (* 1899 in Istanbul ; 1980) held high offices in the Turkish Commission for Reparations from 1925 to 1927. From 1927 to 1929 he was first secretary at the Turkish embassy in Prague, and later in London.
