This list includes numerous sights in Görlitz . Görlitz is a large district town and the seat of the district of Görlitz . As of 2010, the list only includes buildings in Görlitz that are under monument protection. It does not claim to be complete, but is based on a selection of a tourism website. The actual representation of the Görlitz cultural monuments can be found in the list of cultural monuments in Görlitz with their subdivisions.

  • The artist who created the monument is named in the Artist column . In the case of buildings, it is usually the architects .
  • In the columns Date of erection and Date of removal , the times are given when the monument was originally erected or finally removed. The tilde "~" in front of the date indicates that it is an approximation.
  • If the artist , the date of installation and, in the case of the former monuments, the date of removal are not known, the word "unknown" is entered.

Biblical House
The name " Biblical House " is easily explained by the reliefs in the parapet areas of the 1st and 2nd floors, which show scenes from the Old and New Testaments .

The Dreifaltigkeitskirche was built between 1234 and 1245 as a monastery church of the Franciscan monastery on today's Obermarkt . In 1564 the monastery was converted into a grammar school, the church served as a school and from 1712 as a parochial church.

Jewish bath
The Jewish bath contains a drainage system and a 2 m² water basin. This is about 5 m below Nikolaistraße. It was popularly known as the “Judenbad”. It is doubtful whether this corresponded to the actual purpose.

The New Town Hall was designed in the neo-renaissance style according to plans by the architect Jürgen Kröger and completed in 1903. At the town hall, in the direction of Untermarkt, are the coats of arms of the Upper Lusatian Six- City Association . The Nikolaifriedhof was probably the main burial place of the city in the 12th century until the opening of the municipal cemetery in 1847. It was first mentioned around 1305 in the oldest Görlitz town book.

The Nikolaikirche was rebuilt as a hall church in the late Middle Ages . The previous buildings were repeatedly destroyed by fire and the effects of war. Its foundation walls can be dated back to the year 1100.

Town hall tower
In the years 1511–1516 the tower was raised by 60 m. In 1742 a lightning strike destroyed the upper part. Council mason Samuel Suckert rebuilt the tower in its current form.

The executioner's house and the associated Dark Gate are among the oldest civil buildings in the city. The house is the last preserved half-timbered house and dates to 1666. The actual time of construction is unknown.
