La Llosa de Ranes is a municipality in the Valencian Community , Spain with 3575 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019).

location

It is one and a half kilometers to the Autovia del Mediterraneo in the west and two kilometers to Xativa in the south. To the Mediterranean coast to Cullera it is 25 kilometers to the northeast and to the southeast to Gandia 30 kilometers.

history

Llosa was a place of relaxation with a mosque and baths during the Moorish era. After the reconquest, James I of Aragon distributed the land, founded the place and named it Lloesa after one of his feudal lords . In 1520 Juan Sanz de la Llosa sold the estate to various residents of Xàtiva and Llosa. In 1609, the Moors who lived here were driven out and it was left depopulated during the expulsion of the latter. It was repopulated by Christians. In 1646 there were 23 households with 100 people. In the late eighteenth century, around 1,000 people lived in 291 houses. In 1897 the population had grown to 2024.
