Location of the municipality

Torrent ( Spanish Torrente ) is the largest city in the comarca of Horta Oest and the third largest in the Spanish Autonomous Community of Valencia . It has 82,208 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019), is nine kilometers away from the city center of Valencia and is connected to it via the Valencia Metro . It is the capital of the Mancomunidad Intermunicipal de l'Horta Sud .

The Amigonians , a Roman Catholic religious order, were founded in Torrent on April 12, 1889 by the Spanish Capuchin Father Luis Amigó .
