The district of Llusco is located in the province of Chumbivilcas in the region of Cusco in south-central Peru . The district was founded on January 2, 1857. It has an area of 314 km². The 2017 census counted 4698 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 5723, in 2007 it was 6399. The district administration is located in the 3496 m high village of Llusco with 985 inhabitants (as of 2017). Llusco is located 13 km north of the provincial capital Santo Tomás .
Geographical location
The district of Llusco is located in the Andean highlands in the central west of the province of Chumbivilcas. The northeast part of the district lies between the rivers of Río Manchoclla in the west and Río Santo Tomás in the east.
The district of Llusco borders in the east, in the south and in the southwest on the district of Santo Tomás , in the extreme northwest on the districts Oropesa ( province Antabamba ) and Haquira ( province Cotabambas ), in the north on the district Quiñota and in the extreme northeast on the district Colquemarca .
