Lohnau , Polish Łany , is a village in Upper Silesia in the municipality of Czissek (Cisek) in the powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski (Kandrzin-Cosel district) of the Opole Voivodeship .
geography
The street village of Lohnau is located around 55 kilometers southeast of Opole and 14 km south of the district town of Kędzierzyn-Koźle on the Dzielnitzer Water in the Upper Silesia region .
history
The first written mention of Lohnau comes from a document dated December 23, 1295 in the form of VON LAN . A church has been documented since 1367, and in 1418 there is talk of a parish church . Felix Triest describes it in 1861 as one of the oldest in Silesia, as it was mentioned in lists from the 11th century. Even after a fire in 1684, the church was rebuilt wooden until it was finally replaced by a stone structure in 1783/84 under the pastor Emanuel von Schimonsky , who later became Bishop of Wroclaw. The parish of Lohnau included many villages in the area, which were almost entirely Catholic, and formed an Archipresbyterate . Originally the place belonged to the Himmelwitz monastery . In the 19th century, Lohnau had a brick factory, two water mills, a post and a Dutch windmill .
Today's neo-baroque St. Bartholomew's Church was built from 1903 to 1905 and consecrated in 1906.
In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, which was accompanied by conditions similar to civil war in the area , 561 people in Dorf and Gut Lohnau voted to stay with Germany and 210 for Poland. Like the entire Cosel constituency, Lohnau remained with the German Empire.
In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration, was renamed Łany and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, Lohnau became part of the Opole Voivodeship and in 1999 the re-established Powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski . On October 11, 2007 the place was given the official German place name Lohnau , and in September 2008 bilingual place name signs were put up.
