Lorenz Ludwig von Below (* 1692 at Gut Seehof , Stolp district ; † July 15, 1760 in Stolp ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and master at 1/2 Pennekow.

Life

family

Lorenz Ludwig came from the Pomeranian noble family von Below . He was the son of Joachim Felix von Below (1639–1715), landlord on Pennekow, and his wife Margarethe Elisabeth, née von Puttkamer from the Starkow family. Since he himself remained unmarried and childless, he intended his considerable fortune to be given to his nephew Lorenz Wilhelm von Gottberg . Ultimately, however, the inheritance remained with the Below family and was given to a family foundation.

Military career

Below had been a cadet in Magdeburg since 1708 and was employed as a Junker in the "von Arnim" No. 5 infantry regiment of the Prussian Army in 1710 . As an ensign he took part in the siege of Stralsund in 1715 . In the following year, Below was second lieutenant in the regiment of the king . In 1719 he was promoted to prime lieutenant and in 1723 to staff captain . Another three years later he was captain and company commander in the Regiment "von Bardeleben" No. 29 . In 1741 he rose to lieutenant colonel , in 1745 to colonel and finally in 1749 to major general. At the same time the king appointed him chief of the Holstein-Beck infantry regiment No. 11 .

Below took part in the Seven Years' War and distinguished himself in the battle of Groß-Jägersdorf , where he was also wounded. He was able to prove his skills one last time in the Battle of Zorndorf . He dimittierte on August 13 in 1758 as lieutenant general and died a short time later.
