Lorenzo Baldassarri
Lorenzo Baldassarri (born November 6, 1996 in San Severino Marche ) is an Italian motorcycle racer .
Career
In the 2011 season , Baldassarri won the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup ahead of Arthur Sissis and Alan Techer . In the same year he finished the season in the 125GP class of the Italian Championship in eighth place. In 2012 Baldassarri finished eighth in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. In the same year, he also finished eighth in the Moto3 class of the Spanish championship .
In 2013 Baldassarri made his debut in the Moto3 class of the motorcycle world championship on FTR - Honda in the GO & FUN Gresini Moto3 team , but did not win any points in the season.
Baldassarri has been racing in the Moto2 class of the world championship since 2014 . In 2014 he rode on Suter for the Gresini Moto2 team of Fausto Gresini and in 2015 he switched to the Forward Team on Kalex .
In September 2016 , he achieved his first victory in the motorcycle world championship at the San Marino Grand Prix at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Misano Adriatico . He prevailed against Álex Rins and Takaaki Nakagami (both Kalex).
Baladassarri has been driving for Sito Pons ' Flexbox HP 40 team since 2018 and achieved his best result to date in the Moto2 World Championship with fifth place, he was on the podium five times and won the race in Spain at the Circuito de Jerez . He also achieved pole positions and fastest race laps in his career for the first time this season .
The 2019 season got off to a great start for Baldassarri when he won three of the first four races. In the rest of the season, however, he did not get any more podium places, which meant that he deteriorated to seventh place in the world championship. Against his teammate Augusto Fernández he drew the shorter team interent with 207 to 171 points, which was enough to win the Team World Cup.
2020 started for Baldassarri, who had got a new team-mate in Héctor Garzó after Fernández switched to Marc VDS Racing , with a second place behind Tetsuta Nagashima in the Grand Prix of Qatar . The following Spanish Grand Prix, however, only finished eighth. After two races, the Italian is second in the World Championship, also behind Nagashima.
