Los Andes is located in the province of Túquerres in Nariño at an altitude of 1588 meters and has an average annual temperature of 22 ° C. Los Andes lies at the transition from the Andes to the plains of the Pacific coast . The municipality borders Magüí Payán , Cumbitara and Policarpa in the north, El Peñol and Linares in the east, La Llanada in the south and Barbacoa in the west .

history

The area of ​​today's community was originally settled by the Abades indigenous people . The place itself was initially known as Panga or San Francisco de Panga . Los Andes has had parish status since 1911 and Panga became the capital of the parish as Sotomayor.
