Buesaco is a municipality ( municipio ) in the department of Nariño in Colombia .

geography

Buesaco is located northeast of Pasto in the province of Pasto in Nariño . The municipality is bordered by San Lorenzo , Arboleda , Albán and El Tablón de Gómez in the north, El Tablón de Gómez and Colón and Sibundoy in the Putumayo department in the east, Pasto in the south and Chachagüí and Pasto in the west .

population

The municipality of Buesaco has 26,229 inhabitants, of which 6645 live in the urban part (cabecera municipal) of the municipality (as of 2019).

history

Buesaco was founded in 1618 by Captain Cazanzola with the aim of bundling the indigenous Buisacos tribe in one place in order to better control it.

Buesaco's main industries are animal husbandry and agriculture (especially coffee , corn , beans, and peas ).
