Taminango is a municipality ( municipio ) in the department of Nariño in Colombia .

geography

Taminango is located in the province of Juanambú in Nariño at an altitude of 1500 meters 119 km from Pasto and has an average annual temperature of 20 ° C. The municipality is bordered by Mercaderes in the department del Cauca and El Rosario in the north, San Lorenzo in the east, Chachagüí and El Tambo in the south and El Peñol , Policarpa and El Rosario in the west .

history

In the area of today's community originally lived indigenous people of Quillacinga . Taminango was founded by Joaquín López around 1700 and has had the status of a municipality since 1886.
