Lothar Sell
Lothar Sell (born November 16, 1939 in Treuenbrietzen , † January 19, 2009 in Meißen ) was a German graphic artist , illustrator and ceramist .
Life
Lothar Sell grew up with relatives in the country without parents. After graduating from high school, he studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts from 1957 to 1963 , with Hans Theo Richter among others . After working as a freelancer in Meißen from 1963, he was a master class student with Richter at the Academy of Arts in Berlin from 1966 to 1969 . From 1974 to 1990 Lothar Sell held a teaching position at the University of Industrial Design in Halle, Burg Giebichenstein in the ceramics department for figurative design. Lothar Sell was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR .
In 1966 he visited Moscow , Sagorsk , Suzdal , Tbilisi and the Caucasus, among others , during a three-month study trip through the Soviet Union together with the graphic artist Klaus Magnus . In 1974 another study trip took him back to the Soviet Union.
After 1990 he was active as a city councilor in Meissen for the CDU .
His work includes numerous graphics, illustrations and sculptures, sometimes with a humorous, rural character "in the country".
