Louis-Marc Aubry (born November 11, 1991 in Trois-Rivières , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract for the Eisbären Berlin in the German Ice Hockey League . His father, Pierre Aubry, was also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Louis-Marc Aubry began playing ice hockey in his hometown at the Trois-Rivières Estacades before moving to the Club de hockey junior de Montréal in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec , one of Canada's top three junior leagues , at the age of 17 . He played in Montreal for three years, where he was nominated for the CHL Top Prospects Game after the 2009/10 season and was drafted there by the Detroit Red Wings . His father Pierre had also played 42 games in the National Hockey League for the Red Wings .

Since the 2011/12 season , Louis-Marc Aubry was active for the farm teams of the Detroit Red Wings, especially for their AHL cooperation team, the Grand Rapids Griffins , for which he played 342 games. He was able to win the championship in the AHL, the Calder Cup , with the Michigan club for the first time in its history in the 2012/13 season . He played his most successful season for the Griffins in 2015/16 , in which he scored 29 points (12 goals). Aubry is described in his style of play as a powerful so-called two-way striker , i.e. defensive center, who is used in the back attack rows and is ready to take on the tough jobs within the team.

In February 2017, the Eisbären Berlin from the DEL signed Aubry for the last seven season and possible playoff games. The polar bears had many injured players at the time, in particular Aubry was supposed to replace the injured Julian Talbot and strengthen the defensive. Before that he had in this season only 36 games for the team from Grand Rapids played in the AHL, which won this season for the second time the Calder Cup. Since Aubry was not used in playoff games due to his change, he is also not considered a player of the championship team. He ran on the ice for the polar bears in the following season 2017/18 and was able to set more offensive accents. Especially in the playoffs, in which he was able to reach the final with the polar bears, he was the most successful goalscorer in the league with 10 goals together with his teammates Nick Petersen and Leo Pföderl . In the following season 2018/19 he was the best scorer of the polar bears with 39 points in the main round, in which he harmonized well with his storm partners Austin Ortega and Brendan Ranford, especially at the end of the season .
