Ludolf Hermann Arthur von Alvensleben (born November 11, 1844 in Potsdam , † December 8, 1912 in Halle (Saale) ) was a Prussian major general and owner of the Schochwitz manor .

Life

origin

Ludolf came from the Low German noble family von Alvensleben . His father was Lieutenant General Hermann von Alvensleben (1809-1887), his mother Karoline, née von Kalitzsch (1814-1887).

Military career

After attending school in Potsdam Alvensleben came on 21 February 1863 as a cadet in the Guards Rifle Battalion of the Prussian army one. There he was promoted to secondary lieutenant on October 11, 1864 and took part with his association in the battle at Königinhof and the battles at Thrush and Königgrätz during the war against Austria in 1866 . In the war against France in 1870/71 Alvensleben fought near St. Privat , Beaumont , Sedan and took part in the siege of Paris . For his achievements he received the Iron Cross, 2nd class.

As a prime lieutenant , Alvensleben was sent to the military shooting school for a year after the peace treaty. This was followed by a command to service Infantry Regiment No. 93 for another year . On January 15, 1874, he was transferred to the 3rd Guards Regiment on foot . With the promotion to captain on July 26, 1877 he was appointed chief of the 12th company. In mid-August 1888 he was promoted to major and on December 3, 1889 Alvensleben was given command of the fusilier battalion. In 1893 he became lieutenant colonel and regular staff officer in Grenadier Regiment No. 110 and in 1896 commander of the Grenadier Regiment "King Karl" (5th Württembergisches) No. 123 in Ulm . On May 22, 1899 Alvensleben was awarded the character as a major general with the statutory board for disposition made.

He then took over the management of the Schochwitz manor, where he was buried after his death in 1912.

family

Alvensleben was married to Antoinette Freiin von Ricou (1870–1950) and had four children with her, including the later lieutenant general of the Waffen SS, Ludolf-Hermann von Alvensleben (1901–1970).
