Baden's Minister of State Ludwig Karl Friedrich Turban

Ludwig Karl Friedrich Turban (born October 5, 1821 in Bretten , † June 12, 1898 in Karlsruhe ) was Baden's Minister of State.

Life

Turban studied philology and law at the University of Heidelberg and the University of Berlin and then made long trips to France and Italy . In 1845 he passed the state examination in law . In 1851 he became secretary in the Ministry of the Interior, 1852 government assessor in Mannheim , 1856 government councilor. In 1860 he joined the newly established Ministry of Commerce as Ministerialrat.

From 1860 to 1870 and again from 1873 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly . In 1872 he was appointed President of the Ministry of Commerce and, in 1876, succeeding Julius Jolly as Minister of State and President of the State and Foreign Ministry. From 1872 Turban was also a member of the Federal Council . When the Ministry of Commerce was abolished in 1881, Turban took over the Ministry of the Interior.

Ludwig Karl Friedrich Turban was the father of Ludwig Turban the Younger and Elise Wilhelmine Friederike Turban (1860–1933), who was married to the physicist August Schleiermacher (1857–1953).
