M. Gatsonides was a Dutch manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company from Heemstede was headed by the racing driver Maurice Gatsonides , who manufactured his first vehicle called the Kwik in 1938 or 1939 . Series production of automobiles began in 1948 and ended in 1950. A total of 10 to 13 copies were made. The brand name of the post-war vehicles was initially Gatford , after an objection from Ford Gatso .

This vehicle remained a one-off. Gatsonides used parts from Ford as well as the engine of a Mercury . The V8 engine had 3917 cc displacement and 110 hp . The vehicle was also used in car races and has been preserved.

Gatford 4000 / Gatso 4000

M. Gatsonides presented this model as Gatford 4000 at the Geneva Motor Show in 1948, series production then started as Gatso 4000 . The chassis came from Matford , the engine again from Mercury, but here with an output of 120 hp. In addition, a motor with OHV valve control and 175 hp was available, with which a top speed of 180 km / h could be achieved. The catalog comprised the models Sports Roadster, Aero-Coupé, 4-seater Touring and Cabriolet. A special feature was a third headlight, which was mounted above the radiator grille. Of these, eight or eleven vehicles were built.

Gatso 1500

This model was created in 1949 based on the Fiat 1500 , was also called Gatso Platje , remained a one-off and still exists today.
