The M 09 is a 174 km long Ukrainian trunk road. It leads from Ternopil in a westerly direction to Lviv (Lemberg) then in a north-westerly direction through Rawa-Ruska to the Polish border near Bełżec . Its continuation on the Polish side is the DK17 (or the planned expressway S17 ), which continues to Warsaw . The entire route from Ternopil to Lviv was completely renovated in 2017 and is in very good condition.
history
This route belonged to the Austrian Crown Land of Galicia until 1918 and was called the Żółkiewer Reichsstraße .
This road was on the territory of the Second Polish Republic between 1919 and 1939 and was declared a state road ( droga państwowa ) by the Polish Road Act of December 10, 1920 . As a direct connection road between Warsaw and Lviv, it was of great importance at the time, which was lost after the border was drawn in 1939.
