Mads Hansen (born September 16, 1978 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Storhamar Dragons in the Norwegian GET league since 2013 . His brother Martin is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Mads Hansen began his career in 1996 with Manglerud Star Ishockey in the Norwegian Elite Series . After three years he moved to the Storhamar Dragons for the 1999/00 season and was able to win the Norwegian Championship . In the following two years the striker was able to improve his scorer qualities further and in 2002 moved to Vålerenga Oslo . In 2003 he was also able to win the Norwegian championship with his new team. Subsequently, Hansen Hammarby IF joined from the second Swedish league, HockeyAllsvenskan . After a year with league rivals IK Oskarshamn , he returned to the Storhamar Dragons in 2005. There the Norwegian and his team reached first place after the regular season, but later failed in the play-offs .

For the 2006/07 season he signed a contract with the Swedish club Brynäs IF from the Elitserien . In 2008 Hansen and his team had to compete in the Kvalserien after the last place in the regular season , but could achieve relegation there. The following year Brynäs lost 4-0 in the quarter-finals against Färjestad BK . Hansen was assistant captain at Brynäs IF between 2007 and 2013 before returning to the Storhamar Dragons after the 2012/13 season.

International

For Norway , Hansen only took part in the 1997 U20 Junior B World Championship in the junior division. In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the B World Championships in 2002 , 2003 , 2004 and 2005 and at the A World Championships in 2000 , 2001 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 and 2011 . He also ran for Norway at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver .
