Career

Club

Magor Tivadar Petres, who belongs to the Hungarian-speaking Szekler minority in Romania , began his career as an ice hockey player in the Hungarian capital Budapest , where he played for the Ferencvárosi TC and the Újpesti TE mainly in the junior area. In 2006 he returned to his hometown Miercurea Ciuc , where he was active for HC Csíkszereda in the Romanian league until 2009 and last year in the multinational MOL league , which he won with his team. Despite this success, HC Csíkszereda stopped playing for financial reasons in 2009 and Petres joined SCM Fenestela 68 Brașov , for which he was also on the ice in the MOL league. In November 2009, however, he left the club again and moved back to Hungary, where he played for the Miskolci Jegesmedvék JSE . But he did not stay long with the polar bears either, but moved to HSC Csíkszereda in 2010 . With the traditional Szekler club, he won the triple of the MOL league, Romanian championship and cup victory in 2011 and the national championship again in 2012. In 2012 he moved again to Brașov, where the club is now called ASC Corona 2010 Brașov . With the Kronstadters he won the Romanian championship title in 2014 and 2017 and the national cup competition in 2013 and 2015. In 2017 he moved to Hungary to HK Budapest , with whom he plays in the 2nd Slovak league , the country's third-highest division.

International

Unlike other Szeklers who play for Hungary , Petres plays internationally for his native Romania . In the junior division he was active at the U18 World Championships in 2001 in Division III and in 2002 and 2003 in Division II and at the U20 World Championships in 2003 , 2004 and 2005 in Division II.

He made his debut in the men's national team at the World Championships in Division I in 2005 . He also played there in 2007 , but could not prevent his country from being relegated to Division II. In 2008 , when he was the second top scorer after his compatriot Attila Borsos , and in 2011 he competed in Division II of the World Cup. After he was promoted again at the 2011 tournament, he competed with Romania in Division I of the World Cup in 2012 and 2013 .

He also played for Romania in November 2012 in qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi .
