Malaysian Open 2018

The Malaysian Open 2018 took place from July 19-22, 2018 in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2017/18 and belonged to the PSA 35 rating category . It was also the last tournament of the season. At the same time, there was also a women's tournament, which was part of the PSA World Tour for women 2017/18 and belonged to the PSA 15 rating category .

The winner of the last event at the beginning of the season was Leo Au , who started the tournament in top position and was eliminated in the semifinals against Abdulla Mohd Al Tamimi after five sets. Al Tamimi won the final in five sets against Yip Tsz-Fung, who was seeded in second place . In the women's category, Low Wee Wern secured the title, which only made its way into the main draw after qualifying.

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 16 players, four of which were starting places for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded. Per Wildcard received Ivan Yuen a spot in the main draw.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize pool was $ 35,000.
