CIMB Malaysian Open Squash Championships 2009

The 2009 CIMB Malaysian Open Squash Championships took place from July 27th to August 3rd, 2009 in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2008/09 and belonged to the 5 Star category . The women's tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2008/09 and belonged to the gold category . Prizes were $ 52,500 for the men and $ 53,500 for the women.

The defending champions were Ong Beng Hee and Nicol David . Beng Hee reached the quarterfinals that year, which he lost to Wael El Hindi . Amr Shabana won the final against Nick Matthew 5:11, 11: 9, 11: 6 and 11: 4. Nicol David managed another successful title defense. She won the final against Alison Waters 11: 6, 11: 8, 9:11 and 11: 7.

The field of participants in the men's and women's competition consisted of 16 players each, four of which were reserved for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded. Per Wildcard received Muhd Asyraf Azan and Delia Arnold each a spot in the main draw.
