CIMB Malaysia Open 2008

The CIMB Malaysia Open 2008 took place from July 21 to 26, 2008 in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2007/08 and belonged to the 5 Star category . The women's tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2007/08 and belonged to the gold category . Prizes were $ 53,000 for the men and $ 52,000 for the women. For the first time, point-a-rally scoring was used on the WSA World Tour at this tournament .

The defending champions were Mohd Azlan Iskandar and Nicol David . Ong Beng Hee defeated Mohd Azlan Iskandar in the final with 11: 6, 8:11, 4:11, 12:10 and 11: 8 and thus won his second title at this tournament after 2000. In the women’s fourth time Follow Nicol David through, this time in the final against Natalie Grinham 11: 1, 11: 4 and 11: 6.

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 16 players, four of which were reserved for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded. For the women, the main field also comprised 16 starting places, four of which were for qualifiers. The best eight players were seeded. Per Wildcard received Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan and Delia Arnold each a spot in the main draw.
