CIMB Malaysian Open 2005

The CIMB Malaysian Open 2005 took place in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia . The men's squash tournament took place from November 14th to 19th, 2005 and was part of the PSA World Tour 2005/06 . It belonged to the category 3 Star and was endowed with 30,000 US dollars. The women's tournament was held from July 25th to 30th, 2005 and was part of the WSA World Tour 2004/05 . It belonged to the Silver 25 category and was worth $ 31,000.

Last year's winner Mohd Azlan Iskandar failed this year in the semifinals to Ong Beng Hee , who also won the tournament. He defeated Wael El Hindi in the final with 13:11 and 11: 6, 8:11, 11: 7. The defending champion in the women's category was Vanessa Atkinson , who also reached the final this year. As in the previous year, she met Nicol David , who won the final this year with 3: 9, 9: 3, 1: 9, 9: 1 and 9: 4. It was David's first title win at the tournament.

The fields of participants in the men's and women's competition consisted of 16 players each, four of which were reserved for qualifiers. The eight best players were each seeded. Per Wildcard received Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan and Sharon Wee a spot in the main draw.
