CIMB Malaysian Open Squash Championships 2012

The 2012 CIMB Malaysian Open Squash Championships took place from September 12th to 15th, 2012 in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2012/13 and belonged to the International 50 category . The women's tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2012/13 and belonged to the WSA Gold 60 category .

Defending champion in the men's race was Grégory Gaultier , who did not run again. Tarek Momen defeated Mohamed Elshorbagy in the final with 12:10, 6:11, 12:10, 8:11 and 14:12. In the women’s finals , Raneem El Weleily prevailed 12:10, 11:13, 11: 6 and 11: 2 in the final against Nicol David , who had won the tournament the last seven times in a row.

The field of participants in the men's and women's competitions consisted of 16 players for the men and 32 players for the women, of which four and eight places were provided for qualifiers. The four best male players and the 16 best female players were seeded. Per Wildcard received Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan and Siti Munirah Jusoh each a spot in the main draw.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize pool was $ 50,000 and $ 70,000 for the women.
