CIMB Malaysian Open Squash Championships 2011

The 2011 CIMB Malaysian Open Squash Championships took place from July 20-23, 2011 in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2010/11 and belonged to the International 50 category . The women's tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2010/11 and belonged to the World Series Gold category .

The defending champions were Mohd Azlan Iskandar and Nicol David . Iskandar reached the quarterfinals that year, losing to Aamir Atlas Khan . Khan also reached the final, in which he met Grégory Gaultier . This defeated Khan 11: 8, 11: 3 and 11: 3. It was Gaultier's first title at the tournament and first title of the current season. Nicol David prevailed again in the women's category, this time against Jenny Duncalf with 11: 6, 12:10 and 11: 5. This was her seventh consecutive title at the Malaysian Open.

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 16 players, four of which were reserved for qualifiers. The four best players were seeded. For the women, the main field also comprised 16 starting places, four of which were for qualifiers. The best eight players were seeded. Per Wildcard received Kamran Khan and Delia Arnold each a spot in the main draw. Both were eliminated in the first round; Khan versus Mohd Azlan Iskandar and Arnold versus Omneya Abdel Kawy .

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize pool was $ 50,000 for the men and $ 68,500 for the women.
