Geographical location

Malerzowice Wielkie is located in the southwestern part of Upper Silesia in the Falkenberger Land. The village of Malerzowice Wielkie is located about ten kilometers north-west of the municipal seat Łambinowice , about 19 kilometers northeast of the district town of Nysa (Neisse) and about 36 kilometers southwest of the voivodeship capital Opole .

Malerzowice Wielkie is located in the Nizina Śląska (Silesian Plain) on the edge of the Dolina Nysy Kłodzkiej (Glatzer Neisse Valley) to the Równina Niemodlińska (Falkenberg Plain) . The Nysa Kłodzka (Glatzer Neisse) flows west of Malerzowice Wielkie . The state road Droga krajowa 46 passes the village.

history

The place is first mentioned in a document in 1284. In the work Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis from the years 1295-1305, the place is mentioned as a painter's village.

After the First Silesian War in 1742, Groß Mahlendorf and most of Silesia fell to Prussia . Between 1743 and 1817 the village belonged to the Neisse district .

In 1801 a Catholic school was set up in Groß Mahlendorf. After the reorganization of the province of Silesia , the rural community of Groß Mahlendorf belonged to the district of Falkenberg OS in the administrative district of Opole from 1818 . In 1845 there was a farm, a chapel, a Catholic school and 61 houses in the village. In the same year 429 people lived in Groß Mahlendorf, 12 of them Protestants. In 1861 there were 486 people living in the village. In 1865 the village had 33 gardeners and 27 cottagers. In 1874 the district of Bielitz was founded, which consisted of the rural communities Bielitz and Groß Mahlendorf and the manor districts Bielitz and Groß Mahlendorf. In 1885 Groß Mahlendorf had 394 inhabitants.

On July 1, 1912, the Groß Mahlendorf district was founded. In 1933 Groß Mahlendorf had 487 inhabitants. In 1934, the districts of Grüben and Groß Mahlendorf were merged to form the district of Grüben . In 1939 Groß Mahlendorf had 516 inhabitants. The Red Army captured the village on March 15, 1945. After that, Groß Mahlendorf, like most of Silesia, fell under Polish administration. Subsequently, the place was renamed Malerzowice Wielkie and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In June 1946 the remaining German population was expelled. In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Nyski (Neisse district) . In 2011 there were 523 people in Malerzowice Wielkie.

Attractions

  • The Roman Catholic Church of St. Laurentius (Polish Kościół św. Wawrzyńca ) is a late Gothic church building from the 16th century. In 1966 the church was placed under monument protection.
  • The Castle United Mahlendorf was built in the 19th century.
  • The adjoining castle park was laid out in the second half of the 18th century. This has been a listed building since 1986
