Man vs Machine was released in 2002 by Epic Records and Loud Records , at that time both sub-labels of Sony Music Entertainment Inc. , as well as on Xzibit's own label Open Bar Entertainment and is assigned to the rap genre , more specifically West Coast rap .

Man vs Machine is Xzibit's fourth album. It was awarded gold by the RIAA on November 12, 2002 . The album was shaped by the influence of Dr. Dres and tried to keep the style of the previous album " Restless ", but it is often criticized that it did not quite achieve its quality, which is also reflected in the lower sales figures.

Man vs Machine was released on October 1st, 2002 in the US and on September 30th, 2002 in Germany . It also appeared in countless other countries where Sony Music Entertainment Inc. operated. The first single was Multiply . This was followed by Symphony in X Major , whose B-side was Choke Me, Spank Me (Pull My Hair) .
Special
The Alkaholiks , long-time companions and co-discoverers of Xzibit, accused him of forgetting his roots after the success of Restless and while working on Man vs Machine (which they were not taken into account). This at times led to a beef from the two parties, which culminated in the song The X Homie by Alkaholiks member J-Ro. In the meantime, however, the dispute was settled when Xzibit appeared on stage at an Alkaholiks concert and announced to the audience that the artists belonged together.
