Weapons of Mass Destruction (Engl. WMD ) is the fifth musical album of Xzibit . It was published on December 14, 2004 in the USA and on December 6, 2004 in Germany .

History of origin

Weapons of Mass Destruction was released in 2004 by Sony Urban Music & Columbia Records , both sub-labels of Sony BMG Music Entertainment , as well as on Xzibit's own label Open Bar Entertainment. It followed the two-year cycle that Xzibit has followed since its debut. At the time of its creation and publication, Xzibit began to work on its second mainstay, the acting and show mastering career. It marked Xzibit's return to a more down-to-earth style. The two previous albums Man Vs. Machine and Restless were more commercial and had more celebrity guests ( Dr. Dre , Eminem , Snoop Dogg ).

It was awarded gold by the RIAA on February 2, 2005 .

Versions

Weapons of Mass Destruction was available in four versions. On the one hand with a blue cover in which only the CD was, on the other hand a limited edition in which a modified cardboard cover was used and a DVD was enclosed with the CD. In addition to the video of Hey Now (Mean Muggin '), the DVD shows scenes from the recordings of the individual songs as well as films from performances. The album is also available as a record, as is the normal CD as a censored version.

Singles

The first release is the song Muthafucka , for which no video was shot and only radio stations were made available. The first real single was Hey Now (Mean Muggin ') , on whose B-side Beware of Us could be heard. The song reached the fourth highest chart position in the US in Xzibit's career. Due to differences with the label, he independently shot another video for Criminal Set , at the end of which Saturday Night Live was alluded to.
