Manuel "Manny" Wiederer (born November 21, 1996 in Deggendorf ) is a German ice hockey player who has been under contract with the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League since May 2017 and for their farm team , the San Jose Barracuda , in American Hockey League plays on the position of the center .

Career

Again he played in his youth at his hometown club Deggendorfer SC . In the 2012/13 season he was used for the first time in the league team at the age of 16. In 2014 he moved to the Straubing Tigers from the German Ice Hockey League , where he signed a one-year contract with the club-side option for two more years. The striker also received a support license for ESV Kaufbeuren from the DEL2 , in which he should play for most of the 2014/15 season. During the season, Wiederer played 29 times for the Tigers in the DEL, he played 15 games for the ESV Kaufbeuren in the DEL2, and he also played a game in the DNL Kaufbeurens team.

In the CHL Import Draft on June 30, 2015, the Moncton Wildcats pulled the striker in 44th position in the first round. He left Germany and played for the Wildcats in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec at the beginning of the 2015/16 season . The following summer, after his first season in North America, the striker was selected in the fifth round in 150th position by the San Jose Sharks in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft .

The 2016/17 season began again with the Wildcats in the LHJMQ, before he transferred to the Huskies de Rouyn-Noranda within the league in December 2016 . After finishing the season with the Huskies, the German was signed by the San Jose Sharks. There he spent the 2017/18 season in the Sharks' farm team , the San Jose Barracuda , in the American Hockey League .

International

Wiederer played his first international match for the German U17 national team. In 2014 he took part in the U18 World Junior Championship , scoring three goals and two assists in six games . The following year he played the U20 Junior World Championship , in which the center remained without goal participation and relegated with the team to Division IA. At the U20 Junior World Championship in 2016 , the team with Wiederer clearly missed the direct promotion as fifth.

For the German A selection , the striker was nominated for the first time after his first professional season for the 2018 World Cup .
