Marcus Nilsson (born May 3, 1991 ) is a Swedish athlete who specializes in the heptathlon .

Career

On June 20 and 21, he started in the decathlon at the 2010 Junior World Championships and scored 7751 points in the competition. In addition, he threw the discus the furthest in the discus throw sub- discipline with 45.18 meters and with a time of 49.54 seconds he set a new personal best in the 400-meter run . With 7751 points, he secured the bronze medal behind the French Kevin Mayer and the Russian Ilya Schkurenjow .

In 2013 he qualified for the athletics world championships for the first time , as he set a new personal best in Eugene with 8,104 points. On August 10 and 11, he was unable to confirm this performance in the decathlon competition of the 2013 World Championships . With only 7540 points, he finished 24th and thus the penultimate place of all participants who finished the competition.

At the European Championships in Amsterdam in 2016 , he was able to deliver his best decathlon at a European Championship . On July 6th and 7th, he collected 7942 points in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam . In addition, he set a new personal best in the long jump with 7.02 meters. In the overall standings, he finished eighth.

On June 17, 2018, he took part in the all-around meeting in Ratingen and achieved a new personal best with 8120 points. In addition, he was able to set another personal best in the 110-meter hurdles with 14.58 seconds. In the overall standings he finished third behind Arthur Abele and Manuel Eitel .
