The Assumption Church in Gliwice, Upper Silesia, is a Roman Catholic parish church. The listed church in Baroque style dates from the 15th and 18th centuries and is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary belongs to the parish of the Assumption of Mary in Gliwice (Gliwice) in the Deanery Gliwice-Łabędy of the Diocese of Gliwice . It is located at Ulica Staromiejska 25 in the Łabędy (Laband) district in the Stare Łabędy (Old Laband) district. There is a Catholic cemetery next to the church.

A church in Laband was first mentioned in 1317, which was probably still a wooden church. The origins of today's church go back to the 15th century and were still built in the Gothic style. From 1716 to 1719 it was expanded in the baroque style on the initiative of Johann Bernhard Reichsfreiherr and Alter Herr von Welczeck . The church was rededicated on September 18, 1719. The church was u. a. Restored in 1864, 1912 and shortly after 1945.

The Church of the Assumption of Mary is a baroque building with a completely plastered facade, the facade is simply designed without decorative elements. It stands high on a small hill. The choir is oriented to the east. There are three side chapels with side altars at the church. It has a single church tower from 1716 to 1719 with a baroque onion dome. In the church tower there are two medieval bronze bells from 1479 and 1480, with a diameter of 69 cm and 83 cm and the inscriptions labanth and labant.

The main altar in neo-rococo style dates from 1858.

The church is surrounded by a stone wall from the 18th and 19th centuries with two integrated baroque chapels. The grave of the Welczeck family from 1830 can also be found in the cemetery. The grave is decorated with the family coat of arms.
