history

The core of the former pilgrimage church in Stollnried dates from the late 13th or early 14th century, i.e. from the early Gothic period. During the baroque period, the furnishings were mainly renewed; there were no major changes to the building fabric. It was not until 1847 that the nave was extended to the west and in 1896 the early Gothic rectangular choir was replaced by a neo-Gothic presbytery with a three-sided end. Major renovations were carried out in 1912, 1937, 1955, 1988/89 and 2009/11.

There used to be a lively pilgrimage to Stollnried. The church bills, which existed without gaps from 1600, could still provide information about the pilgrimage activity, had they not been destroyed around 1900 during a renovation in Furth Castle . However, from documents from 1848 it is known that the pilgrimage experienced a huge boost in the summer of 1788. At that time, the rural population spread across a wide area that the Stollnried image of the Virgin Mary moved his eyes. Around fifty votive tablets still exist today, some of which were probably lost during the renovation work in 1937 and 1955. The oldest dates from 1788 and was designed by Bauer See people from Unterneuhausen donated.

description

The east-facing, single-nave hall church with a slightly retracted choir is externally largely unstructured and whitewashed. The two-storey sacristy and - to the east of it - the four-storey choir flank tower with an eight-sided pointed helmet are attached to the south side . For this ringing two historic bells two Angelus prayer and worship . The west facade, which also contains the only church portal , was designed a little more elaborately during the renovation in 1847 by adding pilaster strips .

The surprisingly bright interior is spanned by a flat ceiling with a hollow in the nave and choir , a Gothic ribbed vault can only be found in the basement of the tower, which, like the annex next to it, is used as a sacristy. The strongly pressed choir arch extends almost the entire width of the church, so that the choir is only minimally drawn in. The painting is pastel tones, which underlines the light impression of the room. The organ loft, which rests on two slender wooden pillars, is drawn into the rear of the nave .

The high altar is made in the Renaissance style and has a strikingly high predella zone with a tabernacle and exposure niche in the middle . A two-pillar structure rises above it and ends with a broken triangular gable. In the central niche is the former miraculous image , a high -quality, late Gothic Madonna with baby Jesus from around 1500. The approximately 1.40 meter high side figures depict John the Baptist and John the Evangelist .

On the side walls of the choir there are three figures from the 16th century. They represent - from left to right - the holy bishops Nikolaus , Benno and Blasius . The pulpit , mounted on the epistle side at a great height and accessible from the upper floor of the sacristy, was made around 1780 in the late Rococo style. The curved body is structured by volute pilasters. Numerous pendants are modeled on the sound cover . There is a crucifixion group on the north wall of the nave . Like the pulpit, the chair cheeks , which have now been partially renewed, originally date from the late Rococo period.
