Marius Probst (born August 20, 1995 in Herne ) is a German athlete who specializes in medium-distance runs . He also runs long seasons .

career path

Athletic career

Marius Probst played as a junior footballer at SC Westfalia Herne . As a track and field athlete, he came third in the German U18 championships over 1500 meters in 2012 . Since then, he has focused exclusively on running.

In 2014 Probst was German U20 indoor runner-up in the 1500 meter distance , took 3rd place at the German U20 championships , came 9th at the German championships and became German U23 champion .

In 2015 Probst ran over 800 meters to 5th place at the German indoor championships and over 1500 meters to 3rd place at the German championships , where he also took 5th place with the 3 x 1000 meter relay. In addition, he was again German U23 champion on the 1500 meter course.

In 2016, Probst was runner-up in the German indoor arena over 1500 meters and came 4th at the German championships .

In 2017 Probst qualified on January 27th with a personal best of 1: 47.89 min over 800 meters at the evening sports festival in Erfurt for the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade . With a personal best of 3: 41.40 minutes, he became German indoor champion and thus fulfilled another standard for Belgrade, where he did not start over the 800 meters and was eliminated in the preliminaries of the 1500-meter run. In the summer of 2017 he became the U23 European champion over the 1500 meters.

At the European Indoor Championships in 2019 , Probst achieved sixth place over 1500 m.

Probst belongs to the perspective squad of the German Athletics Association (DLV) and was previously in the B squad .
