Mark Manders (* 1968 in Volkel ) is a Dutch artist .

Act

His work focuses on installations , sculptures , drawings and short films . Artificial, imaginary spaces that he describes as parts of his self-portrait are typical of many of Manders' works . He also uses arrangements of objects, for example arm bones, pieces of sugar, cups, dead animals, chimneys, walls, tables, chairs and floor lamp-like structures. In various installations, rough, coarse clay people and animal sculptures stand out.

In addition, Mark Manders publishes art writings in Amsterdam with the graphic designer Roger Willems under the name: Roma Publications .

The sculptor Manders has been working on his work of sculptures and drawings since 1986 , which he puts under the theme of Self-Portrait as a Building . So he tries to present his entire work, his own existence and his real and imaginary biography in rooms and installations and to tell stories and ideas (with architectural plans) in many variations, but which allow the viewer different interpretations.

Mark Manders received international attention in 2001 at the Venice Biennale , in 2002 at Documenta11 in Kassel and in 2008 at Carnegie International in Pittsburgh .

He lives in Ronse , Belgium and Arnhem , the Netherlands.
