Šuler left the club in the summer of that year and moved to the Slovenska Nogometna Liga to ND Gorica . At the side of Valter Birsa , Aleš Puš , Admir Kršič and Saša Ranič, he helped to win the championship as a regular player. He only missed winning the double with the team in the cup final, when audience Celje prevailed through a goal from Wladislaw Lungu with a 1-0 victory. In the following season he was next to top scorer Miran Burgić also a guarantee for a successful title defense in the championship. Although he was denied the title hat trick as runner-up in the 2006/07 season, he had also made a name for himself outside the country's borders.
During the winter break of the 2007/08 season, Šuler left his home country to join the Belgian club KAA Gent . The performance of the defensive player was rewarded by national coach Matjaž Kek , who nominated him for the first time for the national team in spring 2008. In March he made his debut on the occasion of a 1-0 away win with a goal by Šišić Mirnes against the Hungarian national team in the qualifying match for the 2010 World Cup in the national jersey. At the end of the season, he stood at the side of Miloš Marić , Bernd Thijs , Bryan Ruiz and Adékambi Olufadé with his club in the cup final, but missed his first title abroad with a 2-3 loss against RSC Anderlecht . As a regular player, however, he ensured that the club qualified fourth for the European Cup the following year . At the same time, he stayed in the national team with which he qualified for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
In the first half of the 2011/12 season he lost his regular place at KAA Gent. In the second half of the season he was awarded to the Israeli first division club Hapoel Tel Aviv , where he became a regular and won the Israeli Cup .
