Markus von Lingen (* 1974 in Essen , Germany ) is a German actor .

Life

Markus von Lingen, who comes from the old Frankish knight family Lingen zu Schwabach, was born in Essen / Ruhr area. As a child he already gained a lot of stage experience. From 1994 to 1997 he studied acting at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart. After completing his training, he played several pieces at the Vienna Burgtheater, also under the direction of Einar Schleef . Among other things in the performance Ein Sportstück , which was awarded the Kainz Medal . Engagements at German, English and Swiss theaters followed.

In 2009 he drew international attention with the Oscar and Golden Globe nominated film Defiance - For my brothers who never gave up (director: Edward Zwick ) alongside Daniel Craig , Liev Schreiber and Jamie Bell .

In the Dutch film Die Zwillinge , directed by Ben Sombogaart , based on the bestseller of the same name by Tessa de Loo, he played the blacksmith Bernd alongside Nadja Uhl and Thekla Reuten . The film was nominated for an Oscar in 2004 in the category of best foreign language film and in 2003 received the film award “ Golden Calf ” in the category “ Best Long Feature Film ” in the Netherlands.

In the role of the English manufacturer Benjamin Seebohm Rowntree , he stood in front of the camera in the 2010 BBC production A Life without work (director: Guy Smith).

In German cinema, Markus von Lingen has appeared in Muxmäuschenstill (Director: Marcus Mittermeier ) ( Max Ophüls Prize ), among others.
