Masi Jalmari Marjamäki (born January 16, 1985 in Pori ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Piráti Chomutov in the Czech extra league since 2018 .
Career
Marjamäki comes from Ässät Pori's offspring and moved to North America in autumn 2002. There he joined the Red Deer Rebels from the Western Hockey League for the 2002/03 season , which had pulled him 48th in the 2002 CHL Import Draft . In the summer of 2003 he was originally selected by the Boston Bruins in the NHL Entry Draft . However, since both sides could not agree on a contract, he was again on the draft list in 2005 and was drawn there by the New York Islanders .
Before the striker made his NHL debut, however, he was signed within the WHL by the Moose Jaw Warriors . After the 2005-06 season to the farm team of the Islanders, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the American Hockey League , changed, he denied on April 18, 2006, his first and only NHL game against the Philadelphia Flyers .
For the 2007/08 season he returned to Finland. After playing a season for his home club Ässät Pori, he moved back to Ilves Tampere, for whom he was active until 2014. After a season with local rivals Tappara Tampere , with whom he became Finnish runner-up in 2015, he moved again to Pori, but left his hometown again in 2016 to sign a contract with KHL club Jokerit from Helsinki. For Jokerit he completed a total of 64 KHL games before he was handed over to Almtuna IS from the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan in January 2018 .
Marjamäki has been under contract with Piráti Chomutov in the Czech extra league since October 2018 .
International
Masimäki took part with the Finnish U20 selection in the world championships for this age group in 2004 , when the bronze medal was won, and in 2005 in the top division.
