Mathias Drexler

Mathias Drexler (* 1790 in Neukirchen , Altötting district in Bavaria ; † March 23, 1850 in Kaisersteinbruch in western Hungary , today Burgenland ) was a German - Austrian master stonemason and sculptor of historicism .

Life

The master stonemason Mathias Drexler, who immigrated from Bavaria , the father Georg, was the landlord and citizen of Neukirchen, and the mother Gertrude, 29 years old, married the widow Theresia Stockmayerin on April 19, 1820 in the Kaisersteinbruch Church , after the master stonemason Johann Stockmayer. He died of fever on December 25, 1818 at the age of 49 . Five years earlier, Stockmayer had married the 26-year-old maiden Theresia Gehmacher, daughter of the local master stonemason Michael Gehmacher and Christina Winklerin. Witnesses were the lordly district hunter Georg Ziegel and master stonemason Michael Stockmayer.

Land register 1820

In the land register, Theresia Stockmayerin was registered with a house, including a garden and herb garden, and had previously come to the widow through inheritance with Johann Stockmayer, her husband and wife, after his death. She got married to Mathias Drexler and had him write next to her.

Tax list 1822/23

In the tax list 1822/23 Mathias Drexler was entered with a house, in it residents , with servants and two cows.

New “Franciscus” bell for the church

On July 26, 1814, a conflagration broke out in the quarry, which buried 22 houses and the churches . The "St. Maria “bell from 1726 fell from the tower and broke. The honorable stonemasons decided to have this bell made at their own expense, as in the past. This bell was cast in Ödenburg by the bell founder Zettenhofer, for which 403 fl. 37 kr were paid  . This bell was inaugurated on November 8, 1825 in the local church by Abbot Franz Xaver Seidemann as the landlord and the name Franciscus Xaverus was added and therefore called the "Franciscus" bell.

The entire honorable craft voluntarily paid 308 fl, the following master stonemasons Michael Gehmacher, Carl Gehmacher, Laurenz Pansipp , Johann Pansipp , Joseph Winkler, Michael Stockmayer, Mathias Drexler , Franz Gehmacher, Anton Gehmacher and Philipp Perchthold paid the lost 96 fl.

In this Kaisersteinbruch Freysprechbuch it is documented that Sommerein , Mannersdorf , Hof and Au were incorporated in the Kaisersteinbruch craft of stonemasons and masons from 1649–1801, Maria Loretto also continued to do so. Mathias Drexler became a master craftsman for the stonemasonry, at the beginning he took over apprentices from the deceased master Johann Stockmayer:

Master Drexler died on March 23, 1850 at the age of 60 years of flutter flow . The widow Theresia no longer married, she died on April 5, 1865 at the age of 77 of pulmonary edema .

progeny

Daughter Carolina married the master stonemason Franz Nunkowitsch in 1850. Daughter Barbara married the master baker Ferdinand Riess in 1852. Son Francis died in 1855 at age 25 of lung - and trachea consumption . His name was on the recruiting list in 1852 in accordance with the highest regulation for recruit training . The pastors were asked to prepare the name directories according to their parish registers .
